National Organization Recognizes PCC Information Technology Administrator
September 28, 2011
Tucson, AZ – Keith W. “Mac” McIntosh, Acting Assistant Vice Chancellor for Information Technology at Pima Community College, will receive the inaugural Rising Star Award from EDUCAUSE next month.
The Rising Star Award is a national honor that recognizes an Information Technology professional who, while early in his or her career, demonstrates exceptional leadership and accomplishment. McIntosh has been working in higher education for approximately three years following his retirement from the U.S. military.
McIntosh has been a driving force behind systems installations and upgrades at PCC. Under his leadership, PCC has made smarter, data-driven decisions that have led to the elimination of obsolete technology. Moreover, PCC has reaped long-term savings through his skills in contract negotiation and identifying operational efficiencies.
“I’m humbled to be the first to receive this recognition,” McIntosh says. “Also, I am honored that my former boss, Kirk Kelly [PCC’s former Vice Chancellor for Information Technology] nominated me. While Kirk’s guidance and support have been invaluable to me, this recognition would not have been possible without the collaboration of my colleagues and the staff at PCC.”
“Pima Community College has been at the forefront of innovation and employing outstanding leadership,” says Cindy Dooling, Acting Vice Chancellor for Information Technology at PCC. “It is no surprise to me, then, that Mac would be selected as the first recipient of the EDUCAUSE Rising Star Award. Mac has been an outstanding leader not only within IT, but wherever called upon within the College. We are fortunate to work with him.”
McIntosh will be honored at EDUCAUSE’s 2011 Annual Conference Oct. 18-21 in Philadelphia.
Nearly 2,000 colleges, universities and educational organizations are members of EDUCAUSE, a nonprofit association whose mission is to advance higher education by promoting the intelligent use of information technology.
