PCC, TUSD Sponsor PARENT UNIVERSITY

November 3, 2010

Pulitzer Prize-nominated author and education consultant Clifton L. Taulbert will give a special lecture at PARENT UNIVERSITY: “Changing Lives, Building Community” on Saturday, Nov. 6.

The event, for parents and grandparents of TUSD students, is designed to strengthen the sense of community and is sponsored by Pima Community College and the Tucson Unified School District African American Studies Department.

Through his Building Community Institute, Taulbert works as a K-12 education consultant to urban school districts throughout the country and has written several books, including “Eight Habits of the Heart”. The book outlines the principles he believes to be crucial to ensuring a workplace where productivity is valued and mutual respect is a way of life. In 1992, he was nominated for a Pulitzer for “The Last Train North”, a follow-up to his 1989 best-selling memoir, “Once Upon A Time When We Were Colored.”
