Purpose

Board Policy requires that the College develop standards and guidelines for College communications to ensure that the image of the College and its values are maintained in its publications regardless of the media or mode of delivery.

The Chancellor delegates authority and responsibility to the Chancellor's Cabinet for developing standards and guidelines for college communications and ensuring adherence to them.  The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Educational Services, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administrative Services, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Services and External Relations, and the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Human Resources are charged with ensuring adherence to standards and guidelines in all district communications.  The Campus Presidents are responsible for ensuring campus adherence to institutional standards and guidelines on communications.

The Vice Chancellor for Educational Services will have responsibility for review, approval and adherence to College standards of all official communication related to educational services at the College, including instruction related materials, regardless of its media or mode of delivery.

The Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Services and External Relations will have responsibility for review, approval and adherence to College standards of all official information related to external relations at the College regardless of its media or mode of delivery.  This Office also reviews and approves all College press releases.

The Vice Chancellor for Human Resources will have responsibility for review, approval and adherence to College standards of all official information related to employment and human resources policies at the College regardless of its media or mode of delivery.

The Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administrative Services will have responsibility for review, approval and adherence to College standards of all official information related to the areas of finance, administrative services and information technology at the College regardless of its media or mode of delivery.

Each Campus President will have responsibility for review, approval and adherence to College standards of all official information related to his/her campus, and for ensuring that institutional information used by the campus is as approved by the responsible offices and according to College standards and guidelines.

The Cabinet delegates responsibility to the Vice Chancellor for Educational Services, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Information Technology, and the Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Services and External Relations for development and oversight of a Web Advisory Committee.

The Cabinet delegates authority to the Director of Media Production and Publications for developing and publishing a Communications Standards Manual, with the following offices having responsibility for specific standards within the manual:
  • The Director of Media Production and Publication for developing graphic design standards and specifications that apply to all official communication regardless of media or mode of delivery
  • The Assistant Vice Chancellor of Information Technology for developing Web design, navigation, and content standards and specifications
  • The Manager of Video Productions for developing video and television design standards and specifications
  • The Director of Media Production and Publications for developing print design standards and specifications.
