College Updates
Congratulations to PCC’s Women’s Basketball Team Congratulations to the Women’s Basketball Team. The team’s record this season is 25-2. Come out and support the team in the Region Championship game Thursday, March 5 at 7:30 pm. The game will be held in the West Campus Gymnasium.
Special congratulations to Coach Todd Holthaus who was named Division II Region Coach of the Year and to Tia Morrison and Abyee Maracigan who were named First Team All-Region.
Commitees Update The web form for committees for next academic year will be available the week of March 9. Look for the link to this form in next week's PimaNews. Please note that this web form will be the only way to apply for an assignment on a recognized College committee.
Individuals currently serving on a Standing Committee whose terms have not expired do not need to reapply.
Reminder: Cesar Chavez Floating Holiday The Board of Governors has authorized a floating holiday in honor of Cesar Chavez for regular staff and administrative employees. The day shall be scheduled and taken with agreement of the employee’s supervisor between March 1 and March 31, 2009. An employee may only be denied the opportunity to take the holiday due to College business and will not be denied arbitrarily or capriciously. The denial must include written notification by the employee’s administrative supervisor with a copy to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Human Resources. If the employee is denied the opportunity, the holiday will be paid the first payday in May.
Non-exempt Staff – Non-exempt employees shall record the actual day taken as a Holiday when completing their timesheets.
Administrators and Exempt Staff – For Payroll purposes only, Cesar Chavez Day will be posted on March 31. This will alleviate the need to complete a timesheet to record the holiday. It is still the responsibility of each supervisor to keep a record of the actual day taken for audit purposes.
Employees are responsible for requesting time off for this holiday. Failure of the employee to request and schedule time off will not result in payment for the holiday. Holidays may not be split between two or more days. As a reminder, to be eligible for holiday pay, an employee must have worked or be on an approved paid leave the day before and the day after the holiday.
For questions regarding holiday pay contact the Employee Service Center at 206-4945, questions concerning requesting time off contact Employee Relations at 206-4539.
