College Updates
Disposition of Surplus Property The Facilities Department is responsible for the disposition of all surplus property, capital and non-capital. Surplus property is defined as any item of College property that is no longer required for the purpose it was acquired or the property becomes obsolete or worn to the extent that it is of no further value or upon the loss, destruction, or damage beyond economic repair.
The property will be reported as excess and retired in accordance with Board Policy. Board Policy: 2602 mandates that "property shall be disposed of by sealed bid, public auction, written quotation, trade-in or individual negotiation.” The policy does not permit disposal by donation.
In addition, equipment purchased with external grant and contract funds (especially federal) have to follow the conditions set forth in each grant and contract. The Department of Public Safety is required to follow different A.R.S. regulations because they are a certified law enforcement agency.
Draft Board Regulation and Standard Practice Guides for Review Drafts of Board Regulation, RG-3202/A: Course Materials and Standard Practice Guide, SPG-3202/AA: Course Materials, have been posted to the College policies website for review and public comment. They will remain on the web for comment until February 13, 2009.
40th Anniversary Website The College website now includes a suite of pages dedicated to PCC’s 40th Anniversary. The pages include photographs through the College’s history, a timeline, and a guest book. It is linked from the home page and can be found at www.pima.edu/anniversary.

SPG 4006/AA Training: Drug and Alcohol Awareness Pima Community College strives to achieve a drug free workplace while at the same time respecting the difficulties in life which may require support. Detecting and preventing drug and alcohol abuse during working hours is one of the responsibilities in maintaining a safe work environment. Participants in this workshop will learn the signs and symptoms of drug and alcohol abuse. College policy and SPG-4006/AA will guide problem solving and decision making using case studies.
Policy requires administrators and those who manage others to attend this training.

Accreditation Update The College has just unveiled a new reaccreditation web site. The "PCC Reaccreditation Activities" website contains information on the self-study process and the members of the Steering Committee and its Subcommittees. As the process continues to develop, more information will be posted, including information on how each Criterion is being developed. The webpage ensures that the self-study process is transparent and public.
