Internet Explorer Security Flaw Discovered
A major new security flaw has just been discovered that affects all versions of Internet Explorer.   This flaw has very serious ramifications, they're not just theoretical attacks. Pima has already applied patches to our systems and Internet Explorer users are safe on PCC campuses.

Experts are advising home users to use other browsers (e.g., Firefox, Chrome, Opera) until their systems have been patched. Links are provided below for patches to the various IE versions.  Note that the Microsoft web site is currently experiencing extremely heavy traffic so have patience. If you use FireFox, Safari, or other web browsers, please watch for any news or updates on these browsers.

Get patches for:   IE Windows XP  |  IE 6  |  IE 5

Timesheets for December
Timesheets for the December 24, 2008 pay date were due in the Payroll Department on December 16, 2008.  If you have a timesheet for that pay date and have not yet submitted it, please contact Payroll at once at 206-4696.

Timesheets for the January 9, 2009 pay date are due in the Payroll Department by December 22, 2008.  Please check with your supervisor for the due date in your area, campus, or department.

W-2 Forms Mailed Before January 31, 2009
The W-2 forms for 2008 will be mailed to employees on or before January 31, 2009.  Please check the address on your payroll check/advice form for accuracy.  If it is not correct, please make the address correction to your Banner record using My Pima.

No MyPima Downtown During Winter Break
The previously scheduled upgrade for MyPima has been postponed from December 2008 until later in the spring semester.

The upgrade to Blackboard Vista will continue over the break without downtime.  There will be no computer downtown during Winter Break.

Microsoft Office 2003 Update
Due to circumstances beyond our control, Microsoft Office 2003 will not be removed from college computers Reports to certain external agencies are required to be in the Office 2003 format.  Until those agencies are capable of receiving reports in Office 2007, our current systems will run with both versions of Microsoft Office.

New timesheets will be available by January 3 that are compatible with Excel 2007.

Training continues to be available online through the Employee Development (ED) courses.  Find the courses in ED (Employee Development).  Sign into MyPima, select the @Work tab and look for the log into ED link under Professional Development.   These courses will assist you in converting your Office 2003 documents to Office 2007.

Contact your local IT department or the District IT Helpdesk at 206-4900 for more information or assistance or if you have any questions or concerns about current files that have not been upgraded to Office 2007.
