| POSITION: | Tutor III – Upward Bound | | HOURLY RATE | $7.60 - $9.50 DOE | | | | | This is a non-exempt position as defined under the Fair Labor Standards Act. | | HOURS: | 6 hrs per week, 9 months per year | | JOB NUMBER: | 08041LAT3 | | Closing Date: | Open Until Filled | | CONTACT: | Leticia Anduaga, Email: LAnduaga@pima.edu | POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for tutoring (subjects include: Math, Science, Writing, Reading, Social Studies, History) in support of the Upward Bound Program, a federally funded early outreach program designed to increase college attendance rates among at risk high school students. This is a grant funded position and continuation is contingent upon renewed funding. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: - Assist students by providing instructional tutoring and assistance with basic concepts, specific problems, homework, test preparation, and the most effective use of textbooks and instructional materials.
- Provide student encouragement and personal support in the areas of student self confidence and study habits.
- Distribute study materials, quizzes, and evaluative materials to students.
- Record and file all student papers/contacts.
- Report to instructor and/or Lab Technician any equipment repairs needed.
- Assist with monitoring student attendance, and other confidential records.
- Establish effective and cooperative relationships with diverse student and employee populations.
QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidate must have: - Extensive knowledge of subject (Math, Science, Writing, Reading, Social Studies, History)
- Successfully completed subject matter course(s) with a grade of B or better at college level.
Successful candidate will have the ability to: - Communicate effectively both written and orally.

OTHER INFORMATION: The position will require a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours. BENEFITS: Benefits required by law will be provided. Employees who work twenty (20) or more hours per week for more than nineteen (19) weeks in a fiscal year are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System.
