DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:  To provide instruction in the Truck Driver Training Program; conduct training in a flexible schedule and non-traditional format; may teach theory and/or hands on skills; assess and evaluate student skills and knowledge; document performance and progress of students; recommend and implement actions to assist students to accomplish goals; maintain complete and accurate attendance and training records; participate in marketing the program and recruiting students; and remain current with emerging trends in assigned area.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of: Principles and practices of teaching, training, instruction specific to truck driver training; standards and trends in the truck driving industry; job market and requirements for employment; basic principles of supervision and training; selection, use, and evaluation of instructional materials and equipment; and processes used in an educational institution.

Ability to: Communicate effectively orally and in writing; instruct students in a specific vocational area within a non-traditional delivery system to prepare students for employment and upgrade; provide assistance and instruction to students on training related matters and training equipment and resources; plan, develop, evaluate, and upgrade competency-based vocational training curricula; and work with individual and groups of students with different competencies and capabilities.

Experience, Education and Licensing: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and one year of  experience related to the program; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job; and five years of commercial driving experience (portion must be over-the-road).  Applicant must meet the minimum requirements for certification/faculty standards for Pima Community College.

OTHER INFORMATION:  Must possess: Class A Commercial Driver License, Current DOT physical, must pass DOT drug screen, have no moving violations for the past five years, no felony convictions, and no DUI convictions.

BENEFITS:  Benefits required by law will be provided. No other College-provided benefits, such as holiday pay, sick leave, annual leave, educational benefits, etc., will be offered. Employees who work twenty (20) or more hours per week for more than nineteen (19) weeks in a fiscal year are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System.
