| POSITION: | MATERIALS HANDLER TECHNICIAN | | HOURLY RATE: | $12.71 | GRADE: | A11 | | | This is a non-exempt position as defined under the Fair Labor Standards Act. | | HOURS: | 37.5 per week, 12 months per year | | JOB NUMBER: | 08006MMS3 | | Closing Date: | August 14, 2008 4:45 p.m. MST | | CONTACT: | Michelle Martinez, Email: michelle.martinez@pima.edu | DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Provide excellent customer service to faculty, staff and administrators of the college
- Receive, inspect, and process incoming shipments of incoming mail, supplies and equipment from inter-College and from outside vendors
- Store or distribute items to the appropriate customer
- Maintain computer database of inventory, purchase orders and other information
- Perform data entry from packing lists and blanket purchase orders
- Place property control tags as needed on equipment
- Perform various customer service duties to include: investigating missing deliveries or shortages in shipment; answering questions from other departments and vendors; and resolving other related problems
- Operate warehousing related equipment; also office machines such as copiers; drive college vehicles and perform operator maintenance as needed
- Provide support as needed to include picking up and delivering mail and provide district-wide courier services; maintains mailroom and provides assistance with mailing inquiries and services
- Maintain related reports to ensure they are properly completed and filed correctly
- Coordinate with College personnel regarding inventory of materials and equipment
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level
QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of: Delivery and receiving procedures; basic inventory control principles; filing procedures; record keeping principles, to include basic accounting; courier principles; applicable computer programs and equipment; basic math; customer service procedures. Safe work practices and applicable driving laws and regulations. Ability to: Operate related warehousing equipment; recognize problems with shipments; interpret information on Material Safety Data Sheets; interpret information on packing lists, and purchase orders. Maintain a safe and healthy working environment. Operate and drive applicable College vehicles. Communicate clearly both orally and in writing. Provide effective customer service. Establish and maintain cooperate working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including all groups within a diverse, multicultural community. Experience, Education and Licensing: High School Diploma, or General Equivalency Degree, and one year of receiving and or warehousing experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. This position requires possession of a valid Arizona Driver's License and demonstration of an acceptable driving record. Physical Requirements: This position requires balancing, stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. It includes Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects. Employees in this position may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, dusts, poor ventilation, work space restrictions, and travel.
