POSITION: Advanced Program Manager – Arizona State Prison Complex

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, develop, direct, review and evaluate the activities, educational services, budgets and operations related to Community Campus credit courses offered at Arizona State Prison Complex and Federal Correctional Institute - Tucson;
  • Serve as the educational leader for the College’s clients at both prison sites;
  • Coordinate assigned activities with other college departments, campuses, and outside agencies;
  • Representing the college at internal and external committees, task forces, and meetings;
  • Provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Dean of Workforce and Business Development;
  • Supervising employees to include:  prioritizing and assigning work, ensuring staff is trained, and conducting performance evaluations;
  • Develop strategies for generating revenue and external partnerships; manage implementation and evaluation;
  • Develop and maintain external contracts and grants; develop strategies and coordinate efforts to ensure program success and client satisfaction.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful candidate will have experience in: 

  • Principles, practices, and techniques of designing, developing, delivering, and evaluating transfer and occupational education curriculum and training programs;
  • Current trends, research, and development in the design, delivery, and servicing of academic certificate and degree programs in a correctional facility environment;
  • Dealing with special populations; working in a regimented environment;
  • Principles and practices of principles and practices of organizational management and protocol as applied to the planning, analysis, and evaluation of programs, policies, and operational needs;
  • Principles and practices of public relations and marketing; principles and practices of budget preparation and administration;
  • Principles and practices of personnel supervision, training, and performance evaluation; and pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.

Successful candidate will have the ability to:

  • Effectively design, develop, direct, deliver, and evaluate academic certificate and degree programs and other training programs and services in support of campus, College, and external customer needs;
  • Analyze problems, identify solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of goals;
  • interpret and apply federal, state, county, municipal, college, and campus laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, goals, and objectives;
  • Write, present, and negotiate contracts and agreements with clients;
  • Oversee the preparation and administration of revenue generating budgets;
  • Identify and respond to College, community, and correctional agency needs;
  • Gain cooperation through discussion and persuasion;
  • Select, train, supervise, and evaluate assigned staff;
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing;
  • And establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with persons and organizations contacted in the course of work including all individuals within a diverse, multicultural community.

Experience, Education and Licensing:  A Bachelor's Degree in related field (i.e. Management, Business, Education, Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Psychology, Counseling, Occupational Programs, etc.) and five years progressive management experience including project management, budgeting, supervision, marketing, contracting, curriculum development or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

OTHER INFORMATION: A flexible schedule (including evenings) is required for this position in order to meet customer needs.  Continued employment in this position is contingent upon continued funding through designated external sources.  For continued consideration, this position requires that the applicant pass the Arizona Department of Corrections and Federal Correctional Institute security background checks.
