| POSITION: | TRADES MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN | | HOURLY RATE: | $12.71 | GRADE: | A11 | | | This is a a non-exempt position as defined under the Fair Labor Standards Act. | | HOURS: | 37.5 per week, 12 months per year | | JOB NUMBER: | 08024MHS3 REVISED AND EXTENDED | | CLOSING DATE: | AUGUST 21, 2008 4:45 p.m. MST | | CONTACT: | Maureen Hawkins, Email: mghawkins@pima.edu | DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform general maintenance and repair tasks associated with grounds keeping and landscaping, mechanical/electrical systems, plumbing fixtures, structural components of commercial buildings, and perform laborer support tasks. Operate as part of a team, to include cross training with other operations and maintenance staff. Operate College motor vehicles. Operate machinery, equipment and a variety of power and hand tools associated with commercial facility maintenance and repair. Respond to customer issues, pages and emergency calls on a 24-hour basis, including being subject to callbacks. Inspect facilities, systems, and fixtures and provide periodic servicing. Maintain and clean equipment. Assist with inventory of supplies and equipment to ensure adequate stock and functionality are maintained. Perform heavy labor, such as moving equipment and furniture. Input data into computerized systems. Provide customer service. QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of: Basic repair and maintenance of a variety of landscape and commercial facilities. Applicable federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations. Basic inventory, record keeping and data input principles. Safe work practices, to include proper lifting and carrying methods, and the proper use of hand and power equipment, tools and supplies used in providing comprehensive facility and grounds maintenance. Basic use of computers and applicable software applications. Principles of effective customer service. Ability to: Perform basic maintenance and repairs of College systems, facilities and grounds. Use applicable tools and equipment related to area of assignment; read schematic drawings, and/or constructions drawings; troubleshoot systems related to areas of assignment. Use computers and applicable software. Monitor inventory levels and submit requests for items or equipment. Communicate clearly both orally and in writing in English and demonstrate interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the college community and the general public. Perform heavy labor, such as moving equipment or furniture. Operate College motor vehicles. Maintain a safe and healthy working environment. Provide effective customer service. Experience, Education and Licensing: High school diploma or General Equivalency Degree, and one year related maintenance and repair experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as shown on this announcement. This position requires possession of an Arizona Driver's License and demonstration of a clean driving record within the last three years. Physical Requirements: This position typically requires: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and performing repetitive motions. Exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work around moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises. OTHER INFORMATION: While assigned to the Northwest Campus, this position will support maintenance operations throughout the district. Some night and weekend work hours may be required. Successful candidates must meet minimum medical requirements as determined in a physical examination that includes a lift test. A copy of the applicant's Arizona Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) is required and will be evaluated for demonstration of a clean driving record within the last three years.
