Administrative Position

Pima Community College (PCC) opens its doors to more than 82,000 credit and non-credit students each year.  Six campuses offer university transfer programs, occupational, developmental and general education and corporate training and community education courses.  In the 2006-07 graduation year, a total of 3,155 students graduated from PCC. These graduates earned 4,633 awards, averaging 1.5 awards per graduate. Over the past ten years, the College has awarded 32,491 degrees or certificates to 24,946 graduates.

The College is accepting nominations and applications for the position of Executive Director of Planning and Institutional Research.

The Executive Director for Research and Planning is responsible for:

  • Leading, administering and directing the activities and operations of the College’s research and planning functions
  • Assessing program, labor market, and enrollment
  • Coordinating assigned activities with other College departments and outside agencies
  • Providing highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Provost
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships and partnerships with other College departments, educational and governmental entities and the general public
  • Representing the College to community and outside organizations

The successful candidate must:

  • Initiate, develop, plan, and implement objectives, policies and procedures in accordance with College research and planning goals
  • Propose new or modified systems, policies and procedures for effective functioning of the Planning and Institutional Research Office
  • Complete College Plan initiatives, and develop indicators of success
  • Supervise managerial, professional, technical and clerical staff, and assign projects and programs pertaining to research and planning, and coordinate the development and administration of the department budget
  • Maintain currency with and promote state-of-the-art developments in assessment research, institutional/evaluation research, planning research, and other areas related to the research and planning function.

Desired Knowledge: Current trends in and modern principles and methodology of research and evaluation; planning concepts and procedures within higher education; institutional accreditation process; organizational and management practices as applied to the planning, analysis and evaluation of programs, policies and operational needs; information technology systems and operations and their capabilities and application for research and planning management; pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations; current trends, research and development in the areas of research, management and planning; principles and practices of supervising, training and performance evaluation.

Desired Experience: Directing and participating in highly technical longitudinal and trend analysis, environmental scans, benchmarking and market analysis and institutional effectiveness research and planning studies; develop, interpret and apply College policies, procedures, rules and regulations; effectively directing the provisions of the college research and planning program in support of the College Plan, campuses, departments and programs; collecting, organizing, analyzing and presenting administrative statistical reports, statements and correspondence in a concise, logical and timely manner; identifying, responding to and working effectively with constituents and the Board of Governors on issues and concerns; planning, organizing, and managing complex budgets; communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.

Desired Education: A master’s degree with major coursework in research, business or public administration, or related field. A Ph.D. is preferred. Degrees must be from accredited institutions. A minimum of five years’ experience with strategic and operational planning programs is required.

The salary for this position is $ 91,539. The compensation package includes competitive benefits.
