ADJUNCT FACULTY – Direct Care Professional Program

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:  This position will provide instruction to diverse populations of students regarding direct care giving for the elderly and those with physical disabilities. This position will prepare instructional materials, lesson plans, and classroom materials; develop, review, and revise curriculum; assess, evaluate and electronically document student progress; maintain accurate records and documentation; perform special work assignments; and participate in professional development activities as appropriate.

Faculty members may be asked to use a wide range of delivery systems, such as lecture, lecture/lab, self-paced, independent or individualized instruction, Internet, flex, open-entry/open-exit, and other alternatives. Classes are currently scheduled in eight week session formats and two sessions are scheduled per semester. One session will include evening classes and one session will include weekend classes.

Minimum Qualifications:   Associates degree or greater in nursing, social work, psychology, gerontology or related field plus five years experience involving direct care giving, and if applicable current Arizona state licensure. Applicant must have excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work with diverse populations. Teaching experience preferred. Spanish speaking ability welcomed.

COMPENSATION:   Adjunct faculty members are paid at $685 per load hour and each 8-wk session will consist of 4.3 load hours. Benefits that are required by law will be provided. No other College-provided benefits, such as holiday pay, sick leave, annual leave, educational benefits, etc., will be offered.
