Overnight Tours in Mexico

New to the area? Looking for an enjoyable learning experience exploring special, out-of-the-way places? Knowledgeable, skilled guides lead small groups on our overnight tours, allowing maximum interaction with the guide and the other tour members. We regularly offer overnight tours ranging from one night to a week or more in Mexico. Occasionally we also offer tours to foreign countries in addition to Mexico.

Transportation is provided via 12-passenger vans on most tours. Unless otherwise indicated, tours leave from Tucson, Community Campus (CC), 401 North Bonita Ave., Tucson, Northwest Campus (NWC), 7600 N. Shannon Rd., and the Community Performing Arts Learning Center, 1250 West Continental Rd., Green Valley.

Travel Insurance:
For tours of more than one-day you are encouraged to consider purchasing travel insurance. Call 520.206.3952 for more information.

International Tours:

U.S. Citizens:
Proof of U.S. citizenship/residency is required.
Per the U.S. State Department, passports or other approved documents are required for all air, sea, and land U.S. border crossings.

Non-U.S. Citizens/Residents:
Must show appropriate identification documentation. If you have questions, contact your consulate.

Emergency medical insurance is included in the fees for all international tours.

Fees for visas and passports are not included in the tour prices.

ST643 - Traveling the Sonora River Valley
Take a step back in time as we visit the Mexico of yesteryear while enjoying the modern hospitality of La Posada del Rio Sonora, featured in National Geographic's Geotourism Mapguide.  We'll learn about the cottage industries of the small towns of the valley, have a lecture on the history of the valley, visit area churches, have a cooking class and more.  Fees include lodging, transportation, cooking class, some meals and experienced guide.

ST682 - Mata Ortiz Adventure
Visit the village where Mata Ortiz pottery is made. See the artists at work and buy directly from the potters. Learn about the culture of the Paquime as you visit the prehistoric ruins. Includes transportation, lodging, meals in Mata Ortiz, artist demonstrations, guide and interpreters.

ST655 - Spring in Copper Canyon
Easter is one of the most colorful times of the year to visit Copper Canyon in the Sierra Madres of Chihuahua to enjoy the celebrations of the Tarahumara as they gather in their remote mountain ranchitos.  Start the tour enjoying the beach at San Carlos, Sonora and visiting the Yaqui villages on Palm Sunday.  Spend two nights in Batopilas, an historical town at the bottom of the canyon and enjoy one of the most scenic mountain roads in the world.  You will also take the incredible train ride through the sierra, and finish the tour in the pottery artist's village of Mata Ortiz.  Includes van and train transportation, lodging, some meals and bilingual tour leaders.
