Motorcycle Rider Education Courses Motorcycles, helmets and gloves are provided for the beginning courses. Additional details on dress code are provided below. Basic RiderCourse: A beginner course for riders with little or no experience riding a motorcycle. Learn to ride in a safe, secure environment free from traffic. Learn how to operate a motorcycle, choose protective gear, and handle hazardous and challenging situations. Participants must be at least 16 years old; parental permission is required for those under 18 years of age. Course fee: $198 Motorcycle ABC: Absolute Beginner Course: This course has the same content as the Basic RiderCourse, but with only 6 riders instead of 12. This version of the basic course is intended for riders who have absolutely never ridden before. In this smaller size class you will have the opportunity for twice as much riding along with the benefit of additional coaching. Participants must be at least 16 years old; parental permission is required for those under 18 years of age. Course fee: $298 Experienced RiderCourse: This course, for experienced riders, focuses on the critical skills necessary for survival on the street. An "open air" classroom discussion covers pre-ride preparation, risk assessment and management, developing a strategy to reduce risks, accident statistics and traction management. The motorcycle range provides a safe environment to practice and fine-tune your skills in the areas of maximum braking, swerving to avoid hazards, cornering techniques and limited space maneuvers. Bring your own motorcycle, along with a valid learner's permit or license. Motorcycle license testing is available as part of this class. This course can also be taken with a passenger; prior arrangements are required. Course fee: $65 Dress Code for the Range - Basic RiderCourse: Long pants (preferably denim), long sleeve shirt or jacket, sturdy over-the-ankle shoes or boots (no tennis shoes), and eye protection.
