A Thousand Cranes

Sept. 26 - Oct. 5, 2008

Proscenium Theatre

Kathryn Schultz Miller’s inspirational family offering - directed by Betsy Kruse Craig. This is the true and uplifting story of young Sadako Sasaki, a girl who survived Hiroshima, only to be stricken with radiation sickness. Urged by her friends and her grandmother’s spirit, she begins to fold a thousand paper cranes to convince the gods to make her healthy again. ASL interpreters available 10/3 at 7 p.m. Tickets: $6.  School matinee performances 9/24, 9/25, 9/26, 10/1, 10/2, 10/3 at 10 a.m. Tickets $5.
Crane Day, a free event forfamilies with games, origami and treats: Sept. 13, 9-11 a.m. in the Black Box Theatre.


Picasso at Lapin Agile

Black Box Theatre

Steve Martin’s tongue-in-cheek comedy – directed by Mickey Nugent. Set in a Paris bar in 1904, Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso meet. Both are on the verge of their greatest work that will shake up the current conceptions of science and art. The energetic encounter that follows is filled with humorous insights and playful banter. ASL interpreters 11/13 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 with discounts available.


Footloose

February 25 - March 8, 2009

A musical by Dean Pitchford, Walter Bobbie, Tom Snow - brought to the stage by the creative team of Todd Poelstra, Mickey Nugent and David Waggoner. Based on the popular 1984 movie of the same name, the play is a celebration of youthful independence with tunes that will have you dancing in your seats. Songs include Footloose/On Any Sunday, The Girl Gets Around, I Can’t Stand Still, Let’s Hear it for the Boy and many more. ASL interpreters 3/4 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $18 with discounts available. School matinee performance 3/6 at 10 a.m. Tickets $6.


The Crucible

April 8-19, 2009

Black Box Theatre

Arthur Miller’s powerful drama - directed by Betsy Kruse Craig. Written in 1953, the play describes events that occurred during the Salem witch trials. Miller used that event as an allegory for McCarthyism and the Red Scare in the 1940s-50s. ASL interpreters 4/16 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 with discounts available.
