PCC to Host White House Conversation on Latino Education

Tucson, AZ – Pima Community College will host a Community Conversation between visiting members of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanic Americans and local community members.

The purpose of the Community Conversation is to discuss ways to improve education attainment of Latinos. The event is part of a nationwide tour of education institutions by the White House Initiative team. Data gathered from the sessions will be the foundation for a new executive order, to be signed by President Barack Obama, which will govern the White House Initiative.

The event will be held Wednesday, Sept. 9, in the Amethyst Room of the College’s Downtown Campus, 1255 N. Stone Ave.

Participants are asked to attend one of two sessions: 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. or 12:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. To attend, RSVP by Friday, Sept. 4, to 206-4747.

Interviews between participants and media will be held between 9:00-9:30 a.m. and at 2:45-3:45 p.m.
