PCC, Eastern New Mexico University Announce Agreement
June 29, 2009 Tucson, AZ – Pima Community College (PCC) Chancellor Roy Flores and Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) President Steven Gamble today announced a new articulation agreement between the two schools. PCC students who graduate with an associate’s degree, apply to a related degree program at ENMU, and have a PCC grade-point average of at least 2.0 are guaranteed admission to ENMU. Nine bachelor’s degrees are being offered by ENMU under the partnership: - Bachelor’s of Applied Arts and Sciences with a concentration in Aviation Science
- Bachelor’s of Science with a major in Aviation Science
- Bachelor’s of Occupational Education with a major in Professional Technical Education
- Bachelor’s in Business Administration
- Bachelor’s of Applied Arts and Sciences with a concentration in Emergency Medical Services
- Bachelor’s of Applied Arts and Sciences with a concentration in Hospitality Management
- Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing.
- Bachelor’s of University Studies
- Bachelor’s of Applied Arts and Sciences (general-student selected).
All of the bachelor’s degrees can be acquired by students without leaving Arizona – the ENMU classes in the partnership programs are available fully online. In addition, all undergraduate Pima students who enroll at ENMU can pay the New Mexico in-state tuition and fee rate ($148 for one semester credit-hour) if they enroll in six semester credit-hours or fewer at ENMU. The students can also enroll in additional hours at PCC to ensure full federal financial aid. ENMU will accept the Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC) and allow up to 95 semester-credit hours from PCC toward its degrees. Many of the other programs will accept up to 84 transfer units. All bachelor’s programs require a minimum of 128 semester-credit hours. The Bachelor’s of Applied Arts and Sciences and Bachelor’s of Occupational Education are 3+1 programs, meaning that students may complete three years of coursework from PCC and one year from ENMU. Separate from the articulation agreement, ENMU is offering in-state tuition rates to 50 students from Arizona. The difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition and fees at ENMU is substantial: In-state tuition and fees for full-time students (12-18 hours) at ENMU are $1,776 a semester; out-of-state students pay $4,551 a semester.
