PCC Basketball Players Included in All-Star Tournament

Pima’s two women’s basketball All-Americans will be playing July 10-12 in an all-star tournament at Pensacola (Fla.) Junior College.

The NJCAA Women's Basketball Coaches Association selected First Team All-American Tia Morrison and Third Team All-American Abyee Maracigan to play in the NJCAA Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Association All-Star Event.

The four-team tourney is for sophomores-to-be. The association assigned players to each of the teams. The players were selected from about 100 applicants based on performance during the 2008-09 season, association president David Lande wrote in an e-mail.

Pima, under head coach Todd Holthaus, finished third in the NJCAA Division II tournament this year, with a record of 28-6. 

Morrison’s team plays at 1 p.m. Arizona time July 11, while Maracigan’s team plays at 3 p.m. that day. On July 12, the teammates face each other at 9 a.m. Tucson time.
