Saturday, April 18, 2009

Tucson, AZ – Pima Community College’s (PCC) Northwest Campus Upward Bound Program is participating at the YMCA Healthy Kid’s Day event on Saturday April 18, 2009.

Twenty-three students from the PCC Northwest Campus Upward Bound Program will be volunteering at the event. Healthy Kid’s Day is a fun, activity-filled festival celebrating “Put Play in Your Day,” which focuses on healthy families and children.

The free event will be held at the Northwest YMCA at 7770 N. Shannon Road from 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

The Upward Bound Program is a federally funded college prep program designed to serve low-income, first-generation college students.  The program currently has 50 students taking Saturday morning enrichment classes in math, language arts, science and AIMS preparation. This summer, students will be enrolled in credit and non-credit classes through the College.
