PCC selects student commencement speaker for May 21 ceremony

TUCSON, AZ – Pima Community College announces Heather Myers as the student speaker for PCC’s 2009 Commencement ceremony May 21.

Myers, who will receive her Associate of Business Administration degree, was the commencement speaker for Aztec Middle College’s first graduating class in 2000. She enrolled in Aztec after becoming a mother at 16 and dropping out of high school.

Aztec Middle College was created in 1996 as a way to connect the last two years of high school with PCC. Students earn a high school diploma and PCC credit.

While attending PCC, Myers has worked for four years at the national headquarters of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 3300 E. Sunrise Drive.

PCC graduation is at 7 p.m. May 21 at the Tucson Convention Center Arena, 260 S.  Church Ave.
