Patrick Nugent Selected as Pima Community College Head Football Coach

Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College Board of Governors officially appointed Patrick Nugent as the College's first full-time head football coach Wednesday evening, January 14, 2009. Nugent will begin Monday, February 2, 2009.

"I am very excited for the opportunity to join Pima Community College's athletic program," Nugent said. "I look forward to working to turn the football program around."

"We believe in Patrick's abilities and character," said PCC Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Services Dr. Robert Riza. "We know he will work diligently and effectively to recruit and lead student-athletes to a winning football program."

Nugent was previously the head varsity football coach at Canyon Del Oro High School in the Amphitheatre School District. He has achieved an overall varsity coaching record of 72-29 during his eight-year tenure. In Nugent’s first year as the head coach at Canyon Del Oro High School, he led a team that had been 0-10 the previous year to a record of 6-4. He then went on to guide the program to five conference championships and six playoff appearances. Under his watch, the team was a 4A State runner up in 2007 and a State Semi-Finalist in 2008.

4A-I Coach of the Year (2007)
Tucson Citizen Co-Coach of the Year (2007)
Arizona Daily Star Coach of the Year (2000)
4A-5A South All Star Assistant Coach (1995)
