College Hosts Japanese Speech Contest
April 21, 2008Pima Community College will host Tucson's 6th Annual Japanese Speech Contest. The event allows students of Japanese language at all skill levels an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities. It also encourages awareness of Japanese culture with demonstrations, exhibitions and audience participation activities. The event will take place on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at the Downtown Campus 1255 North Stone Avenue, from noon to 5:00 p.m. It is free and open to the public. - 12:00 Noon Exhibits open outside the Community Room
- 12:30 p.m. Opening Ceremonies
- 1:00 p.m. Speech Presentations
- 1:50 p.m. Ninjutsu Demonstration * Ninjutsu is a Japanese martial art based on techniques Japanese ninjas used. The performers are from Desert Dojo.
- 2:20 p.m. Speech Presentations
- 3:50 p.m. Odaiko Sonora - Taiko Drumming Performance * Taiko is traditional Japanese drumming. The performers are a nationally known, locally-based taiko group.
- 4:30 p.m. Award Ceremonies
