Faculty Recital Feb. 10
January 31, 2008Pima Community College's Performing Arts Department will present Drs. Raymond Ryder and June Chow-Tyne in a Faculty Piano Duo recital, Sunday, Feb. 10 at 3:00 p.m. The program will include selections from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Sonata in D Major,” Emmanuel Chabrier’s “Valse Romantique,” Camille Saint-Saens’ “Variations on a Theme by Beethoven,” and William Bolcom’s “The Garden of Eden.” Dr. Ryder completed a doctorate in piano at the University of Arizona under Rex Woods. He is an active member of the National Music Teachers Associations and the American Guild of Organists. Prior to moving to Tucson, he was on the faculty of Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi. An adjunct faculty member at Pima Community College, he has a private teaching studio in Tucson and is the organist and hand bell director at Valley Presbyterian Church in Green Valley. Dr. Chow-Tyne earned her doctorate in piano performance at the University of Arizona from the University of Arizona in 1995. She has performed extensively in Asia and North America as a soloist and chamber music player. She was named the Honored Teacher of the Year by Arizona State Music Teachers' Association in 2003. A member of the Tucson Music Teachers Association, Dr. Chow-Tyne serves as adjunct piano faculty at both the University of Arizona and Pima Community College. The concert will be held in Pima Community College's Center for the Arts, 2202 West Anklam Road. Tickets are $6 general admission; $5 for students, senior citizens and PCC faculty and staff.
