Center for The Arts Spring 2008 Season
December 19, 2007 The Center for the Arts at Pima Community College announces its Spring 2008 Season, showcasing the creative talents of Pima’s theatre, music, dance, visual arts and digital arts students, faculty and guest artists. The Louis Carlos Bernal Gallery Spring 2008 exhibition schedule features an aboriginal artist from Australia, a Navaho artist, faculty fibers artist and a juried student exhibition. Digital video and film arts students will present a screening featuring their recent work and the premiere of “Yes Is Better Than No,” a film produced by the advanced cinematography class. PCC Theatre Arts presents: The dazzling musical “Wonderful Town” (music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Betty Comden and Adoph Green) February 20 through March 2, 2008. Directed by the creative team of Todd Poelstra, David Waggoner and Mickey Nugent. Filled with optimism, two sisters arrive in 1930s New York City with high hopes. Presented in the Proscenium Theatre: Wednesday-Saturday at 7:30 p.m., Sunday at 2 p.m., (high school matinee performance on 2/29 at 10 a.m.). Tickets are $10-$15.
Sam Shepard’s dark disturbing Pulitzer Prize-winning drama “Buried Child” April 9-20, 2008. Directed by Betsy Kruse Craig. A dysfunctional family, hides a terrible secret in their disintegrating Midwest farmhouse (mature themes). Presented in the Black Box Theatre: Wednesday preview, Thursday-Saturday at 7:30 p.m., Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $8-$12. PCC Music presents: (All tickets $5-6)
