Wind Ensemble Concert Oct. 11
September 19, 2007The Pima Community College Wind Ensemble performs their first concert of the 2007-2008 season on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007. The concert will feature British and American classics of the band repertoire. Under the direction of Dr. Mark Nelson, the 25 member Wind Ensemble also features works for brass, saxophone and percussion ensembles, as well as a flute quartet. The Oct. 11 program includes British works, "Second Suite in F for Military Band" by Gustav Holst, and "Prelude, Siciliano, and Rondo" by Malcolm Arnold, based on the brass band original arranged by John Paynter. The program includes American works, "The Southerner March" by Russell Alexander, and "Esprit De Corps" by Robert Jager, based on the Marine Corps Hymn. The Wind Ensemble concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in the College's West Campus Center for the Arts Proscenium Theatre, 2202 W. Anklam Road. Tickets for the Wind Ensemble concert are $5-$6.
