Faculty Cello Recital Features Bach, Chopin
September 19, 2007Pima Community College will present Music faculty Tom Clowes in a cello recital on Sunday, Sept. 30. The recital will include Johann Sebastian Bach' s powerful “Suite no. 2 in D minor for Solo Cello” and Frederic Chopin's “Sonata for Piano and Violoncello in G minor.” The program will also feature Astor Piazzolla's lively “Four Seasons in Buenos Aires,” performed by Trio Liebevoll (Ji-Young Kim, piano; Yeonjin Kim, violin; and Tom Clowes, cello). Ji-Young Kim will accompany the Chopin sonata. Tom Clowes has been a cellist of the Tucson Symphony and Tucson Pops Orchestras for the past four years. Clowes has performed with the Phoenix Symphony, the Tucson Chamber Artists, the Tucson Masterworks Chorale, the University of Arizona Concert Choir, and the Ariana, Zenith and Sterling string quartets. As a member of Trio Liebevoll, he performed for the University of Arizona's Chamber Music Showcase. Tickets for the recital are $5-$6.
