New Student Orientations Available
August 1, 2007Anyone planning to attend Pima Community College for the first time this fall must attend a new student orientation session before registering for credit classes. Fall semester classes begin Wednesday, August 22. New student orientation sessions are offered at the College’s campuses through August. A complete schedule is available at www.pima.edu/advising/stdorient/OrientationSessions.shtml online. New student orientation is mandatory for first-time PCC students, high school students and students planning to enroll in reading, writing, math or general education courses. Students can be admitted to the College either in person at any of the college campuses or centers, by mail, fax or online. Students must fill out and submit an application for admission and take the reading, writing and math assessment tests before attending the orientation. Admission and assessment are free. Assessments allow each student to be placed in appropriate classes. The free tests are given at nine Campus Assessment Centers throughout Pima Community College. Students can reserve a time to take the tests by contacting a Campus Assessment Center or by visiting www.pima.edu/assessment/. Information covered during orientation will include: • How college works • How to choose classes • How to register for classes • Preparing for advising • Beginning a college career with confidence Students can make reservations for an orientation session by calling the PCC campus holding the orientation.
