Alumni Association Elects First Executive Officers
June 1, 2007 The recently founded Pima Community College Alumni Association has elected its first executive officers to serve one-year terms.The board’s first objective will be to develop a comprehensive plan of action that will serve as a guide for the association for the next several years. Sarah Evans was elected Chair of the Board. Evans is a neighborhood relations coordinator at the Office of Community Relations at the University of Arizona. Her previous experience includes Community Relations Manager at KUAT and KUAZ, where was in charge of all radio station marketing, public relations and community outreach. She holds an Associate of Science degree from PCC and bachelor and master degrees from UA. Elected for Vice Chair was Jaimie Leopold, owner of Leopold Consulting. Leopold is the project manager of the Wildcat School, UA’s charter junior high school aimed at preparing Tucson’s south side students for college and serves on the Advisory Board of the United Way of Tucson. Francisco Padilla was elected interim Immediate Past Chair. Padilla is a victim witness advocate at the Pima County Attorney’s office. He earned his Associate of Arts degree from PCC in Criminal Justice and Corrections and also holds masters degree in educational psychology from Northern Arizona University. Terrell Bivins, who was elected Secretary, received his Associate of Arts degree with honors from PCC in 2004 and is finishing his Bachelors degree in psychology from UA, where he is on the Dean’s list. Elected Treasurer Mark Hanna, a councilor and instructor at Catalina High School, is currently working on a Masters degree in education. Hanna also volunteers with the Tucson Zoological Society. Juan Ciscomani, elected Member-at-Large by the board, is a senior instructional specialist at the UA Take Charge America Institute. During his years at PCC, Ciscomani was an East Campus student leader where he participated in the Students in Free Enterprise chapter. He is now training students in personal finance topics with the UA’s Credit-Wise Cats team. The PCC Alumni Association was founded to provide a channel for alumni who want to create and maintain personal and professional contacts with the College. Anyone who has taken a course at PCC can join. Members benefit from on-going career counseling, important communications from the College, job-search guidance, invitations to College events and volunteer opportunities.
