Houston Appointed to Northwest Campus Position
May 21, 2007Patricia Houston has been appointed acting division dean of instruction for Social and Behavioral Sciences at Pima Community College’s Northwest Campus. A PCC Spanish instructor since 1992 and PCC adjunct faculty since 1981, Houston has also taught English as a Second Language in Mexico and Columbia and authored Spanish textbooks, workshop and other educational materials. Houston holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from Syracuse University, a Master of Arts degree in Spanish Language and Literature from Universidad de las Americas, in Mexico City and has doctoral studies in Latin American Literature from the University of Arizona. In 2006 Ms. Houston was recognized with the Distinguished Faculty Award at the East Campus. She also received the Outstanding Faculty Award from the Pima Community College Foundation in 1992, and the Chancellor’s Administrator Award for Diversity in 2000. Houston is one of three faculty members and a program director within the College who have been appointed recently to acting division dean positions at various campuses.
