May 8, 2007

Dr. Jodylee Estrada Duek has been selected as a Faculty Scholar for Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges.

Dr. Duek, biology faculty at Pima Community College’s Desert Vista Campus, has been a Phi Theta Kappa campus advisor since 2002.  She joined the College in 2000.

Faculty scholars serve as seminar leaders during the annual International Honors Institute – a six-day convention that explores the honors study topic.  She will lead groups of 18-22 people in discussions.  Dr. Duek is one of 20 advisors asked to participate.

The 2007 International Honors Institute will be held June 18-23 at Wheaton College near Chicago, Illinois.

Recently, Alpha Beta Chi, the PCC chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, received four awards at the annual international convention, including recognition as one of the top 25 distinguished chapters.
