Dance Diaries Performances May 10 - 12

Pima Community College performing arts presents the “Dance Diaries” concert May 10-12 in the Center for the Arts Proscenium Theatre.

Featuring the dance drama “Alicia in Wonderland,” evening performances start at 7:30 p.m., plus a Saturday matinee performance at 2 p.m.  The choreography includes thoughts about friendship, dreams, disappointment, pressure and deception, the affects of AIDS and the need for hope. Dance instructor Leigh Ann Sotomayor also contributes a rollicking rodeo dance.  Student choreographers include Summer Hensley, Monique Tamplin, Ashley Greensmith, Kristen Wright, Renee Rivera, Jessica Gonzales, Gloria Colchado and Laura Garcia.

“Alicia in Wonderland,” is a dance drama choreographed by dance faculty Kristin Eberhardt. The classic story by Lewis Carroll explores the theme of growing up. 

Student performers are Gloria Colchado, Ana Cortez, Laura Garcia, Jessica Gonzales, Ashley Greensmith, Alejandra Grijalva, Summer Hensley, Courtney Ingram, Itzel Iniguez, Rachel Mobley, Bailey Moreno, Janell Poole, Elizabeth Quiroz, Renee Rivera, Monique Tamplin and Kristen Wright.

A dance photo exhibit by instructor Kim Hennes will also be on display. The audience is invited to write their thoughts and comments in a dance diary provided after each show.

Pima Community College Dance offers an Associate's degree in Fine Arts in dance. For more information on the degree program, contact Kristin Eberhardt at 908-0901.

Tickets for the PCC Dance concert are $5, available at the Center for the Arts box office, 206-6986. The Center for the Arts is located on the College's West Campus, 2202 West Anklam Road.
