PCC Orchestra Concert Saturday, May 5
April 30, 2007Pima Community College performing arts department will present the PCC Orchestra in a joint concert with Tucson High Magnet School Orchestra, Saturday, May 5 at 3 p.m. The concert will be held in the West Campus Center for the Arts Proscenium Theatre,2202 West Anklam Road. Concert selections include "Romeo and Juliette" by Tchaikovsky, "Poet and Peasant" Overture by Zuppe, “Piano Concerto #1” for piano and orchestra by Beethoven (with pianist Alexander Tentser), and “Concerto for Two Violins and Strings” by Vivaldi. The PCC Orchestra, under the direction of Alexander Tentser, is made up of high school students, college students and community adults. Tentser, who came to America in 1990 from the highly recognized Gnessin Music Institute in Moscow, Russia, teaches piano and music theory at PCC. He is also an adjunct faculty member at the University of Arizona. Tucson High Magnet School Orchestra is under the direction of Cayce Miners. Both orchestras will also perform together Friday, May 4 at 6:30 p.m. in the Tucson High Magnet School auditorium. Tickets are $5-$6 and are available at the Center for the Arts box office.
