Stogsdill named to All USA Academic Team

April 17, 2007

Pima Community College student Kennadi Stogsdill has been named to the All-USA Community College Academic First Team by USA Today.

Stogsdill, a 20-year-old pre-nursing student, will receive a $2,500 cash award from USA Today.  She received a trophy and medallion during the American Association of Community Colleges annual convention in Tampa, Florida, April 14-17.

The All-USA Community College Academic Team recognizes outstanding community college students and is divided into first, second and third teams, based on levels of community service involvement, leadership and academic achievement

Stogsdill is one of 20 All-USA First Team members nationwide. She was selected out of 1,500 nominees in a judging process overseen by Phi Theta Kappa, the international honors society of two-year colleges.

Stogsdill is a member of Alpha Beta Chi, the PCC chapter of Phi Theta Kappa.  She is also the Southern Arizona district regional vice president for Phi Theta Kappa.

In February, Stogsdill was named to the All-Arizona Academic Team, along with 12 other PCC students, where she was awarded $1,000 and a full-tuition waiver to any state university.

In 2006, two PCC students were named to the All-USA Academic Team. Hiba Zakai was named to the first team and James Pennington McQueen was named to second team. Both students also received Phi Theta Kappa’s Guistwhite Scholarship, making PCC the only college to have two Guistwhite Scholars.
