Ethnic Music Call Numbers

Pima College's Library classifies ethnic music by country or ethnic group, using standard Library of Congress (L.C.) classifications. Ethnic music is defined as non-Western music from various countries and peoples, both around the world and within the United States; it does not include American folk music.

For example, the call number for a recording titled "Navajo Skip Dance and Two-Step Songs" is: E 99 .N3 N34x

  • E = History: America
  • 99 = Indians of North America
  • .N3 = L.C. classification for the Navajo tribe
  • N34x = L.C. Cutter number

Other Music Call Numbers

Call numbers for other types of music are also classified according to the Pima College Library's own classification system.
