For Faculty and Staff
The Pima College Library is here to support your teaching and research. Faculty and staff can borrow materials and access databases once they apply for a Pima College Library card.
The Community Campus has a professional development collection with materials focused on teaching, distance education and related topics. Visit any campus library to use our other resources, or browse the links below.
Faculty Loan Periods
- Books: 6 months, with 2 renewals unless a hold or recall has been placed on the item, then it cannot be renewed and must be returned.
- Leased Book & Paperback Collections: 3 weeks, with 2 renewals unless a hold or recall has been placed on the item, then it cannot be renewed and must be returned
- Videos: 1 week with 2 renewals unless a hold or recall has been placed on the item, then it cannot be renewed and must be returned. Faculty members using videos for instruction are encouraged to book the video at least a week in advance to assure the video is available for class. See the circulation staff at the campus libraries for information about booking videos for classroom use.
Course Reserves
To place materials on reserve in the Library, contact the campus library where you wish to reserve them. You will need to submit a completed course reserve form. All reserve materials must meet current copyright guidelines. Please allow 48 hours for processing after making your request.
Classroom Video/DVD Booking
To reserve a video or DVD for in-class viewing, contact the campus library where your class is held. Please give the library at least a week's notice. If we have trouble obtaining the video or DVD, we'll notify you within 24 hours of your request.
Interlibrary Loan
Faculty and staff with valid library cards can request materials not available from libraries in Tucson through interlibrary loan. Please see a campus librarian to submit an interlibrary loan request form. Completed request forms may be printed and submitted in person or sent to the library as an e-mail attachment. Be aware that it can take 4-8 weeks to get materials from interlibrary loan so plan ahead. There may be fees for certain materials. You have the option of specifying what amount you are willing to pay or if you only want items that are freely available. Due dates for interlibrary loan materials are set by the library that loans the item. You will be informed of the date by which you must return the item when you pick it up. Materials may be renewed only if the lending library allows. You are responsible for any overdue fines.
Research and Curriculum Development
We can help you with professional research and curriculum development by identifying appropriate print, electronic and other resources, as well as by developing search strategies. With a Library card you can use the online reference resources or the magazines, newspapers, and journal databases that are available to students. We also maintain a subscription to OCLC's FirstSearch, a "database of databases," as well as to Resources for College Libraries. Contact a Librarian for FirstSearch login information.
