Assessment Services

Who needs to take assessment tests?

Information on exceptions to the assessment test requirement is available on the Assessment web site. If you have questions, please contact an advisor or counselor.

What will I need to take the assessments?

  • An Application for Admission to Pima Community College (completed and processed). See the Admissions web site for information on how to apply for admissions.
  • A current, valid photo ID (such as a driver's license or state ID)

How can I prepare for the assessments?

  • Purchase a sample study guide from the bookstore or download sample tests free of charge.
  • Allow enough time for the exam. On the average, all three assessment take 2 1/2 hours.

What is the Financial Aid Ability to Benefit (ATB) test?

Students applying for financial aid without a high school diploma or GED must take the reading, writing and math assessment tests to qualify. These three tests, taken on the same day, are considered an ATB test.
