Raytheon Develops Homegrown Talent with Scholars Program

Raytheon Missile Systems has created a partnership with Pima Community College and the University of Arizona to encourage minority and female students in Pima County attend college, earn a bachelor’s degree and get a head-start on a lucrative career.

The Raytheon Scholars Program is designed to identify high school graduates interested in engineering careers. The students receive financial aid to attend two years at PCC, followed by two years at the University of Arizona. In addition, the students will be given an internship at Raytheon while they are in school and will be hired as regular employees with Raytheon upon graduation.

"As far as I know this type of collaboration between a community college, a major research university, a high-tech employer and community-based organizations is a first in this country," said PCC Chancellor Roy Flores.

Applications for Raytheon Scholars are accepted each Spring.  For information about establishing a similar program at your company, call the PCC Foundation at (520) 206-4646 or e-mail foundation@pima.edu.
