Applying for Financial Aid
How do I apply for Financial Aid?
Step 1: complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online.
- There is no fee to complete a FAFSA - it's FREE!
- The FAFSA is available after January first, each year. Apply early to be considered for the most aid.
- Pima's school code is 007266.
- Here's what you'll need to get started.
Need help?
- Attend a free Help Session at PCC
- Call the Department of Education at 1-800-4-FedAid
- Contact PCC's Financial Aid Offices
- Computers are available at Pima campuses (computer commons and/or libraries)
- Pima County Public libraries also have computers available for public use
Step 2: Your FAFSA results will be sent or emailed to you as Student Aid Report (SAR). Read the SAR carefully and if you find errors, make corrections to your FAFSA online.
Step 3: The Department of Education will send an electronic version of your FAFSA to PCC. After we receive the electronic record, we will determine if any other information is needed to complete your file and we will post these requirements to your MyPima Financial Aid tab. Processing of your application may take two to three weeks from the date we have received your complete FAFSA and any other requested documentation.
Step 4: Check your MyPima Financial Aid tab and your Pima student email account regularly to keep on top of your financial aid status.
Are there any dates I should keep in mind?
To be considered an early applicant and given priority for funds with limited availability, Pima must have received a valid FAFSA electronically, all requested documents, and you must be admitted to an aid eligible program as a regular student no later than April 4. This date is not a deadline but a priority date for consideration for types of aid other than the Pell Grant.
