Standard Academic Progress (SAP) - Hours Completed
Pima awards financial aid based on what you reported on your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and monitors how many credit hours you complete each semester accordingly.
We hope you will successfully complete all of the hours that you attempt; however, you are required to complete at least 67% in order to remain in good financial aid standing.
If you are receiving funding from tribal sources or other scholarship or tuition award sources, confirm eligibility requirements with the tribe or scholarship office/donor.
How Will My Hours Be Evaluated?
Evaluation will occur at the end of each semester for all students and you will be placed in one of the following categories:
Good Standing: If you completee 67% or more of the hours that you have attempted during your enrollment at Pima, your GPA is with the acceptable range, and you have not exceeded maximum timeframe for degree completion, you will be considered to be in good standing.
Probation: If you fail to complete 67% of your attempted coursework, or your GPA is below the allowable minimum, and you have not previously had a probation term, you will be placed on probation. If you earn at least 67% of your hours during your probation term, and your GPA is a 2.0 or better for your probation term, you will begin the following academic term with a review continued status. You must continue to meet academic standards in the next terms to continue eligibility for aid. If, however, you fail to earn 67% of your hours during this probationary term, you will be suspended from financial aid.
Suspension: If you earn less than an accumulative of 67% of your attempted hours or your GPA is below a 2.0 in your probation term, you will be suspended from receiving financial aid and you will be required to submit an appeal to be considered for future financial aid.
Regaining Good Standing After Suspension
If you've been suspended from financial aid, whether for failing to earn at least 67% of your hours, for having a low GPA, or for not meeting your probationary requirements, you must attempt to meet academic standards without Federal or state financial aid. If you bring your completion rate above 67%, your GPA is within acceptable ranges, and you have not exceeded the maximum timeframe for your degree program, you will be placed in good standing.
