Americans With Disabilities Act
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)1990 federal civil rights statute covering people with disabilities that provides equal access to: What the Law is: - Title I of the ADA prohibits discrimination against any qualified individual with a disability in all terms and conditions of employment.
Obligation: - Employers must provide a reasonable accommodation to known physical or mental limitations of a qualified applicant or employee with a disability unless it can show that the accommodation would impose an undue hardship.
- Title II of the ADA prohibits discrimination against any qualified individual with a disabilitiy on the basis of disability in the services, programs or activities of a public entity.
What the Office Does: - The EEO/AA office is responsible for oversight of the College employee ADA accommodation request process. To Request an ADA accommodation, call 206-4539.
- The EEO/AA offfice is responsible for the administration of the College EEO and ADA discrimination complaint process which covers both employees and student discrimination complaints.
What this Office does not do: - The EEO/AA office is not responsible for the student ADA accommodation request process. Each campus Disabled Student Resource office (DSR) is responsible for determining student accommodations.
