Present: Chancellor Roy Flores, Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Suzanne Miles; Executive Vice Chancellor David Bea; Vice Chancellor Raul Ramirez; Presidents Lou Albert, Christal Albrecht, Charlotte Fugett, Jana Kooi, and Sylvia Lee; Assistant Vice Chancellor and Vice Provost Brigid Murphy; Assistant Vice Chancellors Donna Gifford, Diane Groover, Rachelle Howell and Lynne Wakefield; Senior Assistant to the Provost Stan Steinman; Marketing and PR Coordinator Paul Schwalbach; Assistant Vice Chancellor Art Leible for Vice Chancellor Kirk Kelly

1.       Introduction:  Mr. Randall Sonnemaker, Budget Director (D. Groover)

Assistant Vice Chancellor Groover introduced the new Director of Budgeting and Report, Mr. Randall Sonnemaker.

2.       Finance Update (D. Bea)

Executive Vice Chancellor Bea provided an overview of the District Finance Office highlighting the priorities for Fiscal Year 2010.

3.       Action

3a.    Class Cancellations (R. Flores)
A presentation will be given at the next Board meeting by President Fugett and Vice President of Instruction regarding class cancellations.

3b.    Standing Committee Recommendations (D. Gifford)
Due to the lengthy process for approval, AVC Gifford will meeting with Dr. Flores to review the remainder of the recommendations.

3c.    Outstanding Faculty and Staff (L. Wakefield)
AVC Wakefield distributed a list of the outstanding employee nominations.  There were approximately 20 nominations received and of those, 3 faculty and 3 staff were being submitted for consideration.

Action:  Approved.  AVC Wakefield will notify the winners. 

3d.    Clinical Trial Coordinator Program (J. Kooi)
This program was activated in Fall 2007 as an occupational, biotech program based at Northwest Campus and supported by Innovative Credit funding.  Northwest Campus is requesting to move the CTC Program from Innovative Credit (301) funds to regular program status and to convert the CTC administrative appointment faculty member to a regular faculty FTE beginning in 2010-11.  This is the only cost to the program because of incoming Perkins funds.

Action:  Program remains the same and will be reviewed next year.

4.       Follow-up

4c.    Organizational Charts (D. Gifford)
AVC Gifford passed around an organization chart as an example for those who still have not turned in their charts.

9d.    Self Study Timeline for Chancellor’s Cabinet (S. Miles)
Dr. Miles noted that Mr. Scurrah will either attend Cabinet meetings or send the Self-Study timeline periodically to keep Cabinet up to date.

10.     Significant Events

Los Descendientes del Presidio de Tucson ~ Tucson’s 234th Birthday Celebration Gala
Dr. Flores noted that this event will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2009, 6:00 pm, Doubletree Hotel at Reid Park and will be honoring Henry “Hank” Oyama.  He encouraged Cabinet to purchase a table to show our support.
