1. Presentation: Update on Student Services Redesign (B. Murphy)
Vice President of Student Development Lorraine Morales provided an update on the Student Services Redesign. The redesign is part of the College Plan to reorganize the College leadership of student services to be more centralized and coordinated. In order to do this, the Vice Presidents of Student Development will work on a 6-week rotation schedule to share ideas. Work teams will be formed to address institutional holds (currently there are 97 holds), new student orientation and intranet. Students will receive the same service on each of the campuses.
The redesign will also improve staff training in student services, reconfigure and update technology, configure an employee intranet to address communication and training.
It was noted that the Intranet should be up and running by December 15.
2. Action
2a. Responsibility for Non-Credit Courses (R. Flores) Based on discussion, campuses will first explore workforce and continuing education non-credit courses.
2b. Pharmacy Technology ASHP Accreditation (C. Fugett) Action: Approved to move forward.
2c. WIRED Grant Curriculum Update (C. Fugett/Jana Kooi) Through the WIRED Grant, Pima Community College working with Cochise College and Arizona Western College will develop shared curricula and programs in truck driving, warehousing and supply chain management; develop outreach modules suitable for use in the K-12 system; and mobilize local workforce systems to prepare a pipeline of trainees to enter logistics occupations. East Campus is charged with drafting curriculum for a new program area in Logistics. Pima Community College is a subcontractor in the WIRED Grant. According to the requirements of the Grant, proposed curriculum is subject to approval by subject matter experts and member institutions.
Action: Approved to move forward
2d. Audit Grade (S. Miles) The Faculty Senate Committee benchmarked the status of class auditing policies and/or practices associated with other Arizona Community College districts and Peer Institutions. Approval is being sought to charge full tuition for an audit class. Action: Approved.
2e. Meet and Confer: AFSCME Holiday Issue (L. Wakefield) AFSCME has requested that the College close on Saturdays (and Sundays) when there is a three-day holiday weekend. Due to classes being offered on the weekends, this request was denied.
2f. Campus after Hours Coverage Consistency (L. Wakefield) ACES shared their concern with the level of authority given to the “Dean of the Dark”. Not all Deans of the Dark are administrators; there is some exempt staff that is held responsible for this assignment.
Follow-up: A small working group consisting of Dr. Albrecht, Ms. Russell, Dr. Morales, Ms. Cook and Dr. Wright with staff support from HR will develop a job description and recommend who can do those duties. Dr. Albrecht will serve as lead. This item will come back to the next meeting.
3. Follow-up
3a. Adjunct Limited Exemptions (S. Miles) Provost Miles noted that the total number of Limited Exemptions beginning December 2007 was 315; the current number of Limited Exemptions on file is 249 and the total number of Adjunct Faculty teaching with LE – Spring 2009 is 143. The total number of Adjunct Faculty is 1049.
3b. Organizational Climate Study Follow-up (S. Miles) A special session will be held to provide a brief overview on what the next steps are.
4. Policies and Procedures (D. Gifford)
4a. SPG-4201/BB: Faculty Hiring Process Few comments were received on this item. Action: Approved to move forward.
4b. SPG-1502/BA: Classification of Positions This SPG will be broken into two separate SPGs, Cyclical Review and Individual Position Review and reposted after comments are considered.

Swine Flu: Dr. David Bea, Chief Bay and Casilda Quinones, Director of Environmental Health is monitoring the swine flu outbreak through regular contact with Arizona, Pima County and federal authorities.
