1.       Presentation

Debbi Schultz from the Advisory Board Company
The Advisory Board provides best practices research to more than 2,700 hospitals, academic health science centers and universities. The research focuses on the best (and worst) demonstrated practice, helping institutions benefit from one another’s learning curve.

The Advisory Board employs more than 900 professionals with 40 employees dedicated to higher education.

If Pima decides to become a member, Pima will have unlimited access to the Advisory Board as well as the researchers and the Advisory Board would help customize practices to best fit our organization.

Follow-up:  Ms. Schultz is to provide references.  Also, we will ask for information on what is included in report content as well as ask who comprises the staff of 40.

11:00 a.m.    Conference Call from Mr. Mike McGarry, Managing Director, Engines for Education

Engines for Education is a non-profit organization whose goal is to reform pre-college education by building a viable alternative to increase student success.  To do this, Engines for Education has created an online four-year learn-by-doing high school program which overlaps with two year community colleges.   Engines for Education is inviting selected community colleges to become involved and implement their learn-by-doing curriculum.

Action:  At this time, the College is not in a position to partner in this proposal.
