1.       Presentation

Gordley Advertising — Jan Gordley, Cindy Klinge (S. Miles)
Provost Miles introduced Jan Gordley, President and Cindy Klinge, Vice President of Gordley Design Group, Inc.  This firm was selected as the firm best able to meet the advertising and marketing needs of the College and approved by the Board of Governors at its June meeting.  The Gordley Design Group, Inc. offers full–service marketing, advertising and public and media relations services and is one of Tucson’s leading image development and marketing agency with a number of award-winning advertising campaigns.

Ms. Gordley and Ms. Klinge will continue to meet with key staff to develop a campaign for the Fall.

Board agenda items will be discussed with the goal of getting to a two month prior to meeting process by next year.

3.    Policies and Procedures (D. Gifford)

RG-3201/A:  Occupational Program Advisory Committees
SPG-3201/AA:  Occupational Program Advisory Committees

President Bia provided background information on these items.  The purpose of these is to provide advice to appropriate campus presidents, deans and faculty regarding industry trends; employment needs; program relevancy, currency, and effectiveness; experiential learning opportunities; and Student Learning Outcomes.
Action:  Approved for posting in August with modification.

4.       Follow-up

4a.    Hybrid Course Development (R. Flores)
It was determined that until the CCS is revised, hybrid courses for first time development will be paid at ½ load.  By Cabinet definition, hybrid means at least 50% of the course being taught is on-line.

4b.    Department Chair Task Force Recommendations (R. Flores)
President Kooi noted that language has been updated.  The estimated financial impact the various changes to Appendix D, E, F, and G is $88,026.  During meet & confer an agreement was reached to provide each campus with the option of having one 12-month FTE to be used for the Coordinator of Advising & Counseling position.  After some further discussion, it was decided that the lead faculty stipend would be increased 25%, no other economic changes would be made and language would need to be rewritten to reflect this.

This item was tabled until a special Cabinet meeting is called.

5.         Action Items

5a.    Faculty Reassigned Time (R. Flores)
Chancellor Flores stated that every semester a list of reassigned time should be forwarded to him.  Also, for non-standard item, include source of funds.

5b.    Reaccreditation for the Veterinary Technology Program by the American Veterinary Medical Association (C. Fugett)
President Fugett noted that PCC has the only AVMA accredited curriculum in Tucson and Southeast Arizona.  In Southern AZ, graduation from PCC’s AVMA accredited program is required for students to sit for the AZ State and National Veterinary Technician exams.   Passing these exams is required to be licensed as a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT).  The cost associated with this is: AVMA Accreditation fees, $500/year, AVMA site visit, $3500, Accreditation coordinator salary, $2000.
Action:  Approved.

5c.    July 4 Holiday and AFSCME Request (R. Flores)
AFSCME has requested that the College close for the entire July 4 weekend due to some members having to report back to work on Saturday.   Due to classes being offered on three campuses, it was determined that for those campuses (EC, NW & DV) classes will be held but employees will adjust their schedules accordingly for working on Saturday.
Follow-up:  A notice will be created to alert staff of this decision. 

The campuses involved are to send an email to Chief Bay and Dr. Bea noting the room and building locations that will need HVAC and security. 

5d.    Outstanding Employee Awards (S. Lee/C. Fugett/C. Albrecht)
Presidents Lee, Fugett and Albrecht distributed a list of the outstanding employee nominations.  There were 2 administrators, 16 faculty and 21 staff nominations received for consideration.
Action:  Approved.  AVC Wakefield will notify the winners.

6a.    Career Focus articles (S. Miles)
Provost Miles shared with Cabinet the upcoming articles for the CareerFocus.
