Chancellor's Cabinet Meeting

Present: Chancellor Roy Flores; Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Suzanne Miles, Executive Vice Chancellor Charlotte Fugett; Vice Chancellor David Bea; Presidents Lou Albert, Johnson Bia, Richard Durán, Jana Kooi, Sylvia Lee and Raul Ramirez; Senior Assistant to the Chancellor Tom Tomasky; Assistant Vice Chancellor of Marketing Lynne Wakefield; Assistant Vice Chancellor for Information Technology Kirk Kelly for Vice Chancellor Sharon Blanton Information and Discussion: 1. Deputy Executive Group Report (S. Jennings) Shirley Jennings highlighted the January 12 meeting of the Deputy Executives Group. 3. Issues and Concerns3a. Request Feasibility Study for Law Enforcement Program (J. Kooi) President Kooi presented background information on this program. The Law Enforcement Academy would be modeled after the Fire and Paramedic Academy programs. The academy would be opened to the public. The Pima academy would increase community basic training capacity by approximately 60 academy slots per year. Action: Approved for feasibility study. 3b. Course Fees (D. Bea) Vice Chancellor Bea distributed copies of the PCC Framework for Student Fees (approved by Cabinet in December 2002) for review. Follow-up: After a brief discussion and suggestion from Cabinet, Vice Chancellor Bea will update the framework and bring back to Cabinet at a future date. 3c. BOG Recognition Webpage (R. Flores) Chancellor Flores informed Cabinet that a webpage had been created to showcase the Board of Governors Recognition honorees. The page can be found at: http://www.pima.edu/board/recognition/index.shtml. The page will be updated twice a year – in April and December following the Recognition events. 3d. Direct Care Professional (S. Lee) President Lee distributed copies of the Direct Care Professional approval form. This program will provide the basic knowledge and skills to direct care worker. Action: Approved for feasibility study. 3e. Response to Subpoena’s and other requests for legal information (R. Flores) Chancellor Flores instructed the Cabinet to send all subpoena requests and requests for legal information to Tom Tomasky. Mr. Tomasky asked that when they do send the documents, they include the envelopes and date received for tracking purposes. Additional Items 1. Waive Match $300,000 of budgeted funds have been set aside for waive match. These funds will be disposed of within 2 years. 2. Innovative Credit (New Programs) Provost Miles will e-mail the preliminary report of requests received thus far. 3. College Plan Chancellor Flores reminded Cabinet that in March 2007, reports are due for Initiative 2, Strategy 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, and 2.4, as well as other Initiatives. Planning and Institutional Research will be sending a template for reporting and he encouraged everyone to use the template.
