Emergency Medical Technology

Certified Emergency Medical Technology Professionals
The EMT programs prepare students for employment with public safety agencies, including fire service agencies. All programs are approved by the Arizona Department of Health Services Bureau of Emergency Medical Services and by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. All courses are taught by certified professionals. Program options include:

  • Basic Emergency Medical Technology (EMT-B) Certificate for Direct Employment. This program provides training in pre-hospital emergency medical care, including physical assessment, medical techniques and ambulance operations. This course is offered to the public by the East Campus EMT Department, and to agency-sponsored students by the Public Safety and Emergency Services Institute.
  • Emergency Medical Technology Intermediate (EMT-I) Certificate for Direct Employment.
  • Emergency Medical Technology Paramedic (EMT-P) Certificate for Direct Employment. For certified Basic Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT-B).
  • Associate of Applied Science Degree in Paramedicine. For holders of EMT-I and EMT-P certificates.

Transfer Status
A Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Emergency Medical Management is available to students in the Tucson area. This program is offered by
Arizona State University – East.
