Los Descendientes’ gala benefits Desert Vista Endowment

The Desert Vista Endowment will get a boost from Los Descendientes del Presidio de Tucson’s upcoming gala celebrating the 234th birthday of Tucson.  All proceeds from the gala go to the endowment.

The Desert Vista Endowment was established as part of the Desert Vista Campus Title V Grant.  PCC’s goal is to raise $310,000 by 2011 and get a dollar-for-dollar match from the grant in establishing the permanent endowment. The Endowment, which now stands at $110,000, will provide annual scholarships and funds for program development and facilities.

Pima Community College Chancellor Roy Flores, Ph. D., is Honorary Chair of this year’s gala. In addition, this year's Guest of Honor is Henry “Hank” Oyama, long-time educator and retired PCC administrator, and local cartoonist David Fitzsimmons will be the master of ceremonies.

Suggested attire for this party includes guayaberas and rebozos.
