Basketball players named to All-American team
Pima basketball players Tia Morrison and Abyee Maracigan have been honored by being named to the 2009 National Junior College Athletic Association Division II All-American team.
Tia Morrison (FR, Phoenix, AZ, Copper Canyon HS) was selected for the First Team. She scored over 16 points and had over 11 rebounds each game, leading the Aztecs in both categories. Morrison also averaged a double-double each night, and helped out defensively by blocked 45 shots and making 36 steals.
Abyee Maracigan (FR, Tucson, AZ, Flowing Wells HS) was selected for the Third Team. The freshman guard averaged over 13 points per game, made 163 assists and 78 steals. Maracigan also led the team in minutes, playing over 33 minutes each night and often playing the full 40 minutes.
