Interested in a career in a growing health care field?  Pima’s nationally accredited Histotechnician program offers you a fast track to a fascinating and high-demand career preparing tissue samples for microscopic examination.  Pathologists and researchers use the tissue samples to detect tissue abnormalities, diagnose diseases and determine treatment for diseases such as cancer.

The job outlook is excellent.  Histotechnicians are in high demand by hospitals and private labs, public health organizations, clinics, universities, veterinary, pharmaceutical and forensic labs and product development companies.

Pima's Program
The curriculum gives you in-depth theoretical knowledge and teaches you the sophisticated laboratory techniques required to prepare tissue samples, embed, section and stain them.  You'll learn the composition, reactions and interactions of the dies and chemicals used to stain tissue and how to determine the quality of your product.  The program includes on-site internships in hospital laboratories and research and diagnostic centers during your last two semesters.

The program is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences, and prepares you to take the American Society for Clinical Pathology licensure examination.
